Small Claims Court deals with claims for damages or return of property worth $35,000 or less.

Often filed in Small Claims Court are claims for money owed under an agreement such as
disputes with contractors,
unpaid loans or unpaid accounts for goods or services sold and delivered,
breach of contract,
personal injury,
debt collection and
damage to property.

The streamlined procedures in the Rules of the Small Claims Court allow the Court to determine cases more quickly and at a lower cost than in the Superior Court of Justice. Claims for more than $35,000 must be brought in the Superior Court of Justice

Civil Litigation - Defendant refers to the representation of a person or entity against whom some type of relief is being sought in a civil dispute before a court, administrative tribunal, arbitrator or mediator.

Civil Litigation - Plaintiff refers to the representation of the claimant or party who initiates a claim or lawsuit in a civil dispute before a court, administrative tribunal, arbitrator.
